1. The best weight for me is the one I had during my college days. – Don’t push yourself too hard by aiming the figure you had almost 10 years ago. Keep in mind that the older you get, the slower your metabolism becomes. Because of this, it may be difficult to lose all the weight in just a short period of time. Stop reliving the past and focus on a goal with the way you’re living now.
2. My goal is to lose the maximum number of pounds I’ve lost before because that’s the ideal weight loss for me. – The problem with aiming a weight loss goal that is too low is that it increases the possibility of you engaging in yo-yo dieting. The process may change your body composition and your muscle mass may become lower as well because of the repetition of losing and gaining weight. To avoid this problem, choose a weight loss goal that you can keep or stick to.
3. The lighter I get, the healthier I become. – The belief that skinny is healthy is indeed a wrong way of thinking. Based from several studies, overweight individuals don’t need to shrink 5-10 times from their current size just to be called healthy. What they truly need is to lose just 5-10% to be able to enjoy a lot of health benefits. Some of these benefits include; minimizing the risk of suffering from cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. If you think that becoming very thin makes you healthy already, remove that from your thoughts because that is not usually the case.
