Theophylline, bronchodilator,treatment of ASTHMA, prevent attacks of APNEA,cessation of breathing, treat heart failure

A bronchodilator used in the treatment of ASTHMA and to prevent attacks of APNEA (cessation of breathing) in premature infants. The drug is also used to treat heart failure, since it stimulates heart rate. Brands such as Theo-Dur, Slo- Phyllin, and Theobid are less commonly used today.
