Matthew McConaughey: His Wife Wasn’t Too Fond of His 38 Pound Effort to Lose Weight
With Matthew’s efforts to lose weight for his new role, let’s officially welcome Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto to the 2014 Oscar race. Dallas Buyers Club premiered late on Saturday night at the Toronto International Film Festival and the spectacular performances kept the audience wide awake. Following the movie, stars McConaughey, Leto, Jennifer Garner, and director Jean-Marc Vallee walked out for the normal Question and Answer and happily received a standing ovation from guests.
Dallas Buyers Club is the film and reason Matthew has to lose weight. The “Magic Mike” actor noted there was one person who didn’t enjoy his 38 pound effort to lose weight. Though Matthew claims to have a lot of energy even after the large weight loss, his wife wasn’t fond of it and was worried for his health. He lost the weight by staying home for weeks and carefully monitoring what he ate and how he exercised. Matthew used a combination of a mushroom diet, plant-based diet, vegan diet, and other diet fads suggested to him by other Hollywood stars that had success in weight loss. Matthew also added that to lose weight was the easy decision.
There was no other way to play the role because the role itself called for it. The $4 million film was shot in about 27 days. Matthew McConaughey will certainly silence his critics with his performance to lose weight for “Dallas Buyers Club.” Following the screening, the “Dallas Buyers Club” cast and crew celebrated by throwing an after party at a restaurant in downtown Toronto. Matthew and Jared were the men of the hour at the Audi sponsored party. Holding court at tables near the entrance, people were lining up to offer their congratulations to the stars and to gawk at Matthew’s slim frame. Jennifer Garner was also in attendance and was all smiles. One sign Matthew was having a real good time and signaled the end of the role: he ate a lot during the party.
