Is the Raw Food Diet Really the Remedy for Disease?
Just today, a book called “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Raw Food Detox” caught my eye. Although the title of the books has caught my attention; I also feel that I was stupid for reading such material. I was just curious about what the book was about. Aside from that, I am very much interested about the opinion of others with regards to it. I am also wondering why some people are practicing this kind of diet because one section of the book really drew me to read further. What did it say?
There was a portion of the book that said; “Symptoms of Healing”. In this part of the book it said that constantly eating nutrient-dense raw foods can lead to a cleansing reaction. What are these reactions? The following are just some of the symptoms; slight fever, itching or rashes, a coated tongue, fatigue, body aches and head aches. For me, these reactions are really weird. How come one would suffer the following after eating just plain raw food? At another part of the book the author relates his reactions after going to a cleansing spa in Thailand.
He said that after he went to that place, he experienced fatigue and some chills. He suffered mild fever and some shakes. For this reason, he slept early and hid inside his blanket to keep him warm. Although this might be the case, he said that he was able to wake up the next morning symptom-free. This left me again wondering. What is the reason that people would substitute this type of diet to other types of diets when actually, they give people the same symptoms? I am not totally attracted to the idea but another part of me thinks that it is not at all a bad idea. What do you think?
