Water composes 60% of our body and it functions in circulation, absorption, creation of saliva, digestion, transportation of nutrients and maintains the temperature of our body.

The amount of urine being released or being kept as reserve is controlled by the communications between the kidney and brain through the pituitary gland.

We feel thirsty because the brain triggers the thirst mechanism when we are low on fluids. Drink water, milk, coffee, or juice when you feel thirsty but avoid alcoholic drinks because it interferes with the brain and kidney communication so this can result to dehydration due to excess fluid excretion.

Those problems can be lessened by proper dehydration and once adequately hydrated the kidneys will function to excrete the excess fluids. Over hydration will not erase fine lines or wrinkles. Use a moisturizer to lock and create a physical barrier to lock and keep the moisture in your skin.

Muscles fatigues are resulted from cells imbalance of fluids and electrolytes shrivel. Muscles need enough fluid to perform better and work well. That’s why we must make sure to drink enough water before and during the physical activity. 17 ounces of fluid is recommended to be taken before exercise, start drinking early and at regular intervals during exercise to replace the water losses.

6. Helps the kidney
Our kidney does a great job of cleansing and getting rid of the toxins from out body as long as our fluid intake is adequate. Blood urea nitrogen is the main toxin in the body. It is a water-soluble waste that is passed through the kidneys to be excreted in the urine.

Urine flows freely, is light in color and free of odor when we’re getting enough fluids in our body. However, when we don’t get enough fluids intake, urine concentration, color and the odor increases. The increase happens due to extra fluid for bodily functions is trapped by the kidneys.
