Are you currently feeling blue? Do you want to become happy, energetic and relaxed? If that is the case, then you must include fruits and vegetables to your diet. It is not good to nurse a bad mood and continuously feel sad because this can lead to emotional eating. It’s a well-known fact that this practice can cause people to become overweight. Since you do not want that to happen to you, you must do whatever it takes to lift your mood. How true is it that diet foods like fruits and vegetables have the ability to elevate your mood? This claim was proven by a group of researchers at the University of Otago in New Zealand. What they did was that they analyzed the food diaries of 281 young adults in a span of 21 days.

They found out that there is a connection of eating fruits and vegetables to and enhanced mood. According to the lead researcher, Dr. Tamlin Conner;”On days when people ate more fruits and vegetables, they reported feeling calmer, happier and more energetic than they normally did.” This only goes to show that these diet foods really do have a significant impact on the mood of those who eat them. Moreover, another thing was proved by the researchers. They have discovered that eating more diet foods like fruits and vegetables can provide dieters with an improved mood for the following day. This means that these foods can greatly affect a person’s well-being if he eats them on a regular basis.

You can read the study at the British Journal of Healthy Psychology because it was published there on January 24. This is not the only study that can support the claim that fruits and vegetables have a positive effect on a person’s mood. Another one was conducted at the University of Warwick in England. In this study, Kiwi scientists this time proved a claim that eating at least 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables everyday can provide a positive change in a person’s body. This means that if you want to experience the same effect on yourself, simply fill up half of your plate with vegetables on every meal. In addition, you must eat fruits for snacks to enjoy a better mood on a daily basis.
