3 Reasons Why Your Belly Fat Won’t Cooperate with Your Weight Loss Efforts

weight loss

Small bits of belly fat are actually good for you because it protects your stomach, intestines, and other delicate organs. However, too much fat in anything in your body is not healthy. Extra fat cells deep in the abdomen, such as viscera fat, will create adipose hormones and adipokines that travel to the blood vessels and organs. These chemical abnormalities will cause inflammation that may increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes. However, there are just days when your belly fat won’t cooperate with any effort you have at weight loss. Here are 3 possible reasons why.

You have a low-fat diet

To get rid of fat, you need to eat fat, but fat of the monounsaturated fatty acid variety. Instead of a low-fat diet, switch to 1,600 calorie monounsaturated fatty acid meals that will make you get rid of a third of belly fat in a month and help you on your way to a good weight loss regimen. Just add a handful of nuts, a tablespoon of olive oil, or a quarter of an avocado in at least one of your daily meals or snacks.

Your food comes from boxes

Carbohydrates from boxed meals or snacks or added sugar from artificially sweetened treats or drinks can cause your blood sugar to spike and this triggers a flood of insulin, a hormone that orders your liver to store fat in your belly. Instead of boxed junk meals, liven up your salads and broth soups with bits of meat or fish or chicken. You can also increase your vegetable intake so you feel full longer without the need to eat snacks later.

You don’t have enough magnesium

Magnesium regulates more than 300 functions in the body. It’s no surprise that those with lower magnesium levels have a hard time with weight loss because of lower insulin levels and blood sugar. Dark leafy green veggies, bananas, and soybeans are rich in magnesium. Reach for these or include these in your meals from time to time. Stay away from diet soda as this kills off magnesium.
