“You have to eat breakfast if you want to lose weight.”
Eating breakfast or skipping breakfast will not directly lead to weight loss or gain. However, eating breakfast is likely to affect overall caloric intake for the day. And when it comes to the research, the findings about breakfast are pretty clear: people who eat a light breakfast (for example, cereal and fruit) weigh less than people who skip breakfast or have a heavy breakfast (for example, eggs and bacon). Eating breakfast is also an approach shared by the vast majority of National Weight Control Registry (NWCR) volunteers, with only 4% saying that they never eat breakfast.
